Privacy policy
The short version: your plants live on your device, and nothing you create is ever sent to us. We have no accounts and no servers that could hold your data. If you turn on iCloud Backup, a copy is kept in your own iCloud — which we cannot access. The one thing the app sends us is an anonymous crash report when something goes wrong.
01Who we are
Sproutly is made by Argon Labs LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Sproutly mobile app and this website, sproutlyplants.com. Questions? Email support@sproutlyplants.com.
02What the app collects: crash reports only
Sproutly does not require an account and contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Every feature except the optional iCloud Backup works with no internet connection. Your plants, photos, schedules, notes, and care history are never transmitted to us.
The only thing the app sends to us is a crash report. When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a diagnostic report through Sentry, our error-monitoring provider, so we can find and fix the bug. A report contains technical information about the failure:
- The error and the code path that produced it (a stack trace).
- Device model, operating system version, and Sproutly version.
- A random identifier used to group repeated crashes from the same install. It is not linked to you and does not follow you across apps.
Crash reports never include your plants, photos, schedules, notes, care history, or the contents of anything you type. We have disabled Sentry's optional collection of personally identifying information, along with its performance tracing and session replay features. Reports are used only to diagnose and fix defects, and are never sold or shared for advertising.
03Where your data lives
Everything you create in Sproutly — plants, photos, schedules, notes, and care history — is stored in a local database on your device. It is included in your device backups (e.g. iCloud or encrypted local backups) under the standard iOS backup rules you control. Deleting the app permanently deletes this data from your device. If you turn on iCloud Backup, a copy also lives in your iCloud — see the next section.
04Optional iCloud Backup
iCloud Backup is off by default. When you turn it on in Sproutly's Settings, the app copies its local database (plants, schedules, notes, and care history), the plant photos it references, and your reminder and winter-mode settings into a private iCloud container that belongs to your Apple Account. That copy is stored and protected by Apple under Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. We have no server and no way to read it.
The copy is used only to restore your plants on a new or reinstalled iPhone. Turning iCloud Backup off offers to delete it, and it is also removed if you delete Sproutly's data from iCloud in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Storage (Manage Account Storage on some iOS versions). It does not include your purchase record — tap Restore Purchases on the paywall and Apple restores the Sproutly Unlimited unlock.
05Camera and photo access
If you add a photo to a plant, Sproutly asks for permission to use the camera or the photos you select. Images are copied into the app's private storage on your device and are used only to display your plants. They are never uploaded to us; with iCloud Backup on, they are part of the copy in your own iCloud.
06Notifications
Care reminders are local notifications, scheduled entirely on your device. No notification content, schedule, or token is ever sent to us, and there is no push server involved.
07Purchases
The Sproutly Unlimited unlock is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. We never see your name, payment details, or billing address.
08This website
sproutlyplants.comis a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and requested page) to operate and secure the service, as described in the provider's own privacy documentation.
09Email support
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and keep it only as long as needed to help you. We never add you to mailing lists or share your address.
10Children
Sproutly is suitable for all ages. The app has no account system and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Crash reports contain only technical diagnostics about a failure, never personal details, and we make no attempt to identify who sent one.
11Your rights
Privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA give you rights over personal data a company holds about you. Everything you create in Sproutly is already fully in your hands, on your device, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete. We hold no account records. Crash reports are technical diagnostics that are not linked to your identity, so we generally cannot connect one to a particular person — but if you contact us with the details, we will locate and delete any report we can identify as yours. Support emails you have sent us will also be deleted on request. If you used iCloud Backup, that copy is in your own iCloud account and you can delete it from Sproutly's Settings or from iOS's iCloud storage settings.
12Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Sproutly works in a way that affects privacy (for example, adding an optional sync feature), we will update this policy first and note the change prominently here and in the app's release notes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
- October 24, 2026 — Sproutly is now on Android; the unlock is sold through Google Play there. Nothing new is sent to us.
- September 22, 2026 — added optional iCloud Backup (off by default). Your plants still never reach us; the copy lives in your own iCloud.
- July 24, 2026 — added crash reporting (Sentry) so we can find and fix bugs. No change to how your plants are stored: they remain on your device only.
- July 11, 2026 — first version of this policy.
